Deutsches Historisches Museum Berlin – Augmented Reality Station

The Deutsche Historische Museum Berlin shows in its permanent exhibition the historical map of the “Rhine River from Basel to Coblenz” from 1794

As part of the “100 Projects for Peace” initiative, shoutr labs developed a media station in cooperation with the Deutsches Historisches Museum.

Historical events, battles and treaties are visualized on the real map using AR. Augmented reality (AR) is added to the two-meter-long map in the showcase.

The visitors can discover the map with an iPad. Historical events, battles and treaties in this region are visualized on the real map using AR.

With the use of AR, shoutr labs creates a direct context to the exhibit and a new form of mediation. The development of the media station is supported by the Franco-German Youth Office. For this reason, German and French students created content for the different Points of Interests.
