In April the Federal Garden Exhibition 2019 (BUGA) with the motto „Blossoming Life“ started in Heilbronn. More than two million people are expected to attend the garden and city exhibition until the end of the exhibition in October. The exhibition is featuring many highlights from art, music, sport and learning programs.

Together with the state of Baden-Württemberg, beier + wellach projekte designed an interactive sculpture for the summer island of the BUGA. Under a bionic fibre pavilion of the University of Stuttgart is the „Future Carousel“ located, an installation that deals with the various facets of digitisation in everyday life and in the future. The circular metal frame allows visitors to look through windows into different film scenes. What does it look like when digital solutions play a major role in agriculture, transport, health, education, administration and business?

Viewers are encouraged to enter into a discussion and to share their opinions anonymously. The results of all visitor surveys are then visualised in an animation.

The installation makes use of the Pepper’s Ghost technology. An illusionary trick from 19th century theatre that makes the scenic representations appear as if it would be in 3D.

For the synchronization of the software and hardware we came into play: The timing of the videos and the animation of the evaluations were in our hands and completed the functionality of the interactive exhibition.

The BUGA 2019 opens the world of garden and urban development as well as digital innovations.
