Augmented Reality

German Historical Museum Berlin

The Exhibition

In its permanent exhibition, the German Historical Museum Berlin shows the historical map of the “Rhine River from Basel to Coblenz” from 1794.

As part of the “100 Projects for Peace” initiative, we developed an augmented reality media station in close cooperation with the German Historical Museum.

Our Solution

Augmented Reality (AR) is added to the two metre long map in the showcase. Visitors can use an iPad to explore the map and select individual locations – visualised via place-name signs. They learn more about historical events, battles and contracts in the region.

With the implementation of AR we create a direct access to the exhibit and mediate the historical connections.

The development of the media station is supported by the Franco-German Youth Office. For this reason, German and French pupils create content for the various points of interest in the shoutr.CMS.
